	B.C.'s first Businesswomen's Advocate was appointed within the 
Ministry of Small Business, Tourism and Culture to provide leadership , 
direction, advocacy and implementation of the Women in Business program 
to assist and facilitate women business owners and women wishing to start 
up their own businesses.

	The Ministry of Women's Equality has a vital role in government.  
As a central agency, the ministry works closely with other ministries to 
ensure that issues relating to women's equality are reflected in policy, 
legislation, services and programs throughout government.
	To do this, we advocate, lead, consult and educate on equality 
for women, and support service delivery in the areas of child care, 
stopping violence against women, wage equality, social justice and skills 
development.
