DESCRIPTION OF ABOVE SERVICE:
Goals: to increase the health status of at-risk pregnant women
and their children and to reduce the incidence of low birth weight.
Program provides free one to one nutritional and lifestyle counselling
(re: decrease in substance abuse) non-judgemental support, nutritional
supplements, outreach, prenatal information and referrals. Other
services include: community kitchen, weekly drop-in support group,
prenatal classes, infant/maternity clothing exchange.

DESCRIPTION OF ABOVE SERVICE:
La Leche League invites all women interested in breastfeeding to
call for telephone help or attend meetings. Pregnant women will be helped
to get breastfeeding off to a good start. Mothers of yougn babies can
meet other new moms and have breastfeeding and parenting questions
answered. Women with older nursing babies can share experiences in a
warm, supportive atmosphere. Everyone, including babies, will enjoy a
chance to get out and make new friends. Each La Leche Group has an
excellent library of books on breastfeeding, parenting and nutrition.

DESCRIPTION OF ABOVE SERVICE:
Seven week childbirth education classes held in various locations
in Greater Victoria, Langford, Sidney. Includes a hospital tour and
reunion class (separate from above). All instructors are qualified
nurses who have had specific training in childbirth preparation. We also
offer refresher classes and sibling tours of the hospital. Some
government bursary money available for low-income qualifiers.
