The lines between books and software packages are starting to blur.
 
This package comes with software for a dial-up IP connection for either Windows
or Mac.  My copy came with Windows software, which included programs from
NetManage, MCC and InterCon.  The disks also contain "readme" files, FAQs and
other articles.  There is also provision for a free, six-month dial-up IP
account through Wentworth Media in the +1-715 area code.
 
The book contains a very brief overview of Internet applications, a "TourGuide"
to World Wide Web, ftp, Gopher and telnet sites, and an Installation Guide,
(two guides, in fact, for Windows and one for Mac.)  There is also a rather
grubby, photocopied sheet which goes into a bit more detail on how to do the
SLIP configuration.
