The CD contains over a hundred utility and diagnostic programs. The book lists each with a description, fact sheet (containing the name, filename, purpose, version, operating system, archive file, author, address, and registration cost), installation, operation, performance, and a summary opinion. With two exceptions, all of the tools are shareware, freeware, or public domain. Chapter one explains the shareware concept and the layout of the book and CD. The program listings are grouped by type into chapters, and by subtypes within chapters. Chapters cover general PC hardware tools, video, printer and parallel ports, modem and communications, drives, and general support. Two commercial programs, MONITORS and PRINTERS, are also included on the disk. In order to use these programs you will have to register and obtain a decryption password. Those are available from (surprise!) the author. copyright Robert M. Slade, 1997 BKBGLCRT.RVW 970426
