Some are opinion or anecdotal reports of the author's reaction to the computer, some are humour, and some (usually the longest) fall into the category of science fiction. The writers, generally, are familiar with the computer only at the most basic level. A piece on recent computer history makes numerous errors of fact. The longer stories tend not to be about technology, at all. There are three mentions of the Michelangelo virus: one humorous, and two which prove the authors have no idea what a virus does or could do. The quality of the material varies from a hilarious glossary of computer terms to a very moving examination of the Turing test to some rather amateurish attempts at writing. The personal reflections tend to be the best parts of the book. copyright Robert M.
