Starting with a lesson in HTML (HyperText Markup Language) it covers elements right up to multimedia and forms. Anchors are more fully explained than in the previous edition. Chapters deal with Universal Resource Locators (URLs); the Common Gateway Interface (CGI); tools, editors and document translators; browsers; servers; and examples. The material is technical and detailed, right down to mention of security considerations on clients. The pace and technical level may not be suitable for beginners, who may want to look at Lemay's "Teach Yourself Web Publishing With HTML" (cf. BKWPHTML.RVW). The organization of the reference chapters (now four and five) still takes some getting used to. The anchor element is included with "List Elements", and while the "anchor" entry in the index has been fixed, the index itself is a bit of a mess. copyright Robert M.
