Also, while a thorough understanding of operating system concepts informs and structures the book, there are areas in which some readers will want further detail. Overall, however, this book is far more readable and accessible than the vast majority of internals works. This puts it within reach of the amateur home user or hobbyist with whom Linux is rapidly becoming popular. The book covers the user interface, kernel, networking, development tools, and hardware. Oddly, it is in the basic background that the book sometimes loses focus and makes odd jumps. The complete text, though, is very well annotated with both printed and Web site references. copyright Robert M.
