This book; fully, clearly and usably; explains the coming changes in the TCP/IP
protocols.  The reasons for the changes are explained, and the individual
protocols are explained and diagrammed.
 
From my perspective, the beauty of the text lies in the fact that it is
suitable for almost any audience.  Thomas starts without any requirement for a
technical background on the part of the reader, and lucidly explains concepts,
uses, and low level details.  The Internet user can find out how new IP
addresses will be specified.  The manager is given advice and information on
migrating from current IP implementations to the next generation.  The
developer is warned that IPng is still in flux, but can start seeing the fields
and forms that will make up the new protocols, as well as the potential for new
functions and applications.
 
Recommended for anyone who *must* understand the new technology, and for those
who simply want to.
