This guide to Java is easy enough for anyone to follow.  It requires no
programming background beyond a familiarity with editing and compiling. 
However, it proceeds in a lockstep and piecemeal style which may not promote
much understanding of the language or concepts.  This is particularly true in
regard to object-oriented programming and design.
