The explanations are as clear and straightforward as those of Swartz in "Learning Perl" (cf. BKLRNPRL.RVW). This is a fine introduction to the language. All that having been said, I was still somewhat disappointed by this book. Perl does not lack for its devotees. It is the language of choice for CGI (Common Gateway Interface) scripts and Web forms. Why, then, is it so hard to write something to excite the non-programming reader? copyright Robert M.
