By and large, it delivers. The text is practical and straightforward, while identifying most of the areas a network administrator would have to deal with in establishing an NT network or server. One could not say it is complete. That would be a very difficult task, given the wide range of networking options covered by NT. The book does provide a good overview, and a good deal of operating information at the button punching level. The chapter on security, for example, covers the functions and provisions of the various security options, but really does not address the issue of network security as such. One reasonably important area that is missing is that of hardware. Since NT can run on multiple hardware platforms, it might be objected that it would be hard to know where to stop once begun. However, the lack of this information, particularly in regard to installation, does compromise the book's usefulness. copyright Robert M.
