The main item is the 1.2 meg floppy disk bound into the back. The book is only a sort of third party documentation for the programs. Mind you, there is still a lot of work involved here. Finding and testing the programs alone must have been a project. The title to the contrary, there is significant programming involved in the programs here. Unlike many other shareware collections, LeVitus and Tittel have put together a legitimate "best of" here, and tested them thoroughly. Stupid is in the eye of the beholder. There is a game, four possible screen blankers, and even a security program or two. I am dying to experiment with "Babble" using the text of my reviews and other columns - my wife informs me that I have two completely different styles and it would be interesting to compare them. Many books include "free disks!" of shareware, with a small notice somewhere in the back saying that the programs are shareware. Given the fact that the book is the disk in this case, one might expect more. LeVitus and Tittel are very up front about it: the very first chunk of text, the Preface, explains what shareware is and that you should register. For each program that is shareware (there is some freeware) the authors give the price and address and recommend you register. This is only the first of these titles that I've seen, but is apparently the latest of four. I'll have to see if I can find the others ... copyright Robert M.
