To join an activity, call the coordinator at least 3 days ahead for day activities and one week for overnight trips (or, as requested). Most hikes meet at the Saanich Municipal Hall (770 Vernon) at a pre-arranged time and are usually full day events. The best access is from Darwin Avenue which runs parallel to Vernon. Take Saanich Road and turn onto Darwin at the Swan Lake store. Continue along Darwin until it ends at the parking lot, and park directly behind the Municipal Hall. We pool cars and share gas costs. Bus routes: Ask driver for instructions for where to get off the bus. From Brentwood: #75 Downtown: #30/31 Esquimalt: #26 Royal Oak: #30/31 Sidney: #70 UVic: #26 Western Communities: #50. Coordinators have the right to limit the number of participants and to set guidelines for smoking, consumption of alcohol, participation of children and pets, and minimum fitness level for the activity. Participants must act in a safe manner at all times and should be properly equipped for the activity. This includes proper clothing, footwear, water and a survival kit. We encourage each person to carry a first aid kit. Participants are required to sign a release before participating in any outdoor event. It is the responsibility of each participant to make the trip coordinator aware of any health problems which may be of concern.
