[Advisors] waiting for lawful access legislation

Darlene ... okay ... now you will get my opinion [smiles] ...
I try to encourage and work with people to come up with local solutions that
meet local and regional needs. Our consumer society and attitudes makes it
easy for people to simply be taken care of by this corporate entities that
come and go, as well create all these different dependencies that drain the
resources (and the people) from our remote and rural communities.
I am glad that government employees and others are being banned from wasting
public dollars "listening" to the few people who try to use these foreign
corporate platforms to share their views. Maybe this effort will result in
the development of alternative strategies and opportunities for the
communicating with the people who are suppose to be working with us.

By the way (and just for the record) I don't want to come off sounding like
I am against Facebook or anything. I have seen the power of Facebook to
mobilize the population. It is an excellent tool. I am actually really
peeved that all government employees are blocked from Facebook (and all
other social media tools like YouTube, Linked In, Twitter, etc.). What this
means is that not only does your government not have a voice in such forums,
it also cannot listen. I think this is a huge failing in our government
right now.
But that is only MY opinion and I do not speak for the Government of
Nunavut, Government of Canada, Government of the Earth or any other
intelligent or unintelligent life in the entire known (or unknown) universe.

Hiya Marita,
Just keep in mind that when you use a Facebook page you effectively cut off
ALL government accounts from seeing what you are posting.

Openmedia is encouraging communities to organize public viewings and
discussion of the (un)lawful access video. While we wait for the
introduction of the legislation, I will be posting resources on my website
www.maritamoll.ca including a link to the video.
I have also set up a facebook page for the eventual Ottawa event:
