In Nunavut, the libraries have NO budget for computers or technical support=
. The only support they receive is through the CAP program.

The Province of Manitoba opted out of being an MOA this fiscal year, ( the =
agreement for Manitoba is now with us the Manitoba E-Association). the Prov=
ince has also indicated that unless there is a major revamp and a guarantee=
of multiple year funding or at a minimum notification of next year funding=
prior to the end of March, they will not participate as an MOA partner. Wi=
th regard to the libraries, the only libraries in the province which do not=
received funding and technical support under CAP from Manitoba E-Associati=
on for the provision of internet to its users are those in the city of Winn=
ipeg. There are 86 libraries classified as rural that receive CAP funding t=
hrough us. So to say that libraries can handle this on their own is for Man=
itoba a misnomer.

Once we have a name for the workshop and an idea of who is attending we
should send an invitation to the Minister and every level of IC CAP staff
down. I send invitations to Penny and the regional staff in BC and always
send one to Sonia but it's been many years since anyone has attended to
discuss CAP.

Hi folks. Eric Stackhouse has reminded me that a contingent from N.S. is
attending the Summit and one thing they would like to see is a discussion o=
n
how to move forward with CAP. Yes, this would be more than appropriate,
right now!

So, who else is attending and do you have any ideas on how you would like
structure such a discussion.

I will be there and I will be happy to either moderate or be a speaker --
depending on how we decide to structure this. I will also put together a
workshop description and send it to summit organizers
-- once we decide on the best way to proceed.

Over to you!

Marita
