I am very very sorry to hear this as I worked quite directly with Jim as
part of the Board of VCN.  He was a mainstay there and provided calm
guidance and experienced judgement during the entire course of my
involvement there.

He will certainly be missed.

Is there a memorial event of some sort being planned for him?

Hi all

It is with great sadness that I post this.  James (Jim) Sayre passed away in
the early hours of August 25th from esophageal cancer.  Jim used his law
degree to assist the disadvantaged through representing clients of the
Community Legal Assistance Society (CLAS) in the areas of Workers'
Compensation and Employment Insurance law. He was on the steering Committee
of PovNet since its formation in 1997. Jim also played a big part in the
Vancouver Community Network (VCN), a community information provider.  Jim
felt that VCN and telecommunications in general should help community
groups, advocates and activists improve their understanding of the internet
in order to assist their clients more effectively.

Jim will be dearly missed by his friends & colleagues.
