I had to think about this one. My answer is I'm not sure. This is what country codes are for yet in this case the Amazon is bigger than one country. I don't like Amazon the company but I can't think of a reason to deny them other than I don't like them. That is not a valid reason. I'd have to see both applications in great detail and spend some time discussing it before I could decide. In the ned it might just come down to who applied first.

Subject: [Advisors] Have your say -- .amazon straw poll

Hi colleagues. I am at the ICANN meeting in Abu Dhabi where a big battle is shaping up over who gets to use the word Amazon as a top level domain -- as in .amazon. Should it be a mega U.S. based retailer or the people of the Amazon represented by the government of Brazil? Not that it is going to be up to us, but I thought it would be fun to do a straw poll -- what do you think? Which way should it go? At the very least, I can throw your comments into the mix in a multistakeholder policy meeting.

Here is some background on this controversy:

What’s the real point of being a dev? It's saving management from themselves Analysis In an effort to block Amazon from getting the top-level domain .amazon, Brazil ...

If you feel so inclined, just send me back a

Yes = let Amazon (Jeff Bezos) have it

No = it belongs to the people of that region

Cheers
