Between 2001 and 2005, he was instrumental in organizing the SSHRC research grant which enabled the CRACIN (Canadian Research Alliance for Community Innovation and Networking) to do in-depth studies on the impact of new communications media on communities. TC was an active participant in this work. See here for some of the papers produced during this project: https://tspace.library.utoronto.ca/handle/1807/10226 <https://tspace.library.utoronto.ca/handle/1807/10226>

Recent work focusses on public information policy for guiding the development of Canada’s information infrastructure, digitally mediated surveillance, internet use in everyday life, digital identity constructions, public participation in information/communication infrastructures development, and community networking. He continues in retirement to explore the social and public policy implications of the emerging information/communication infrastructure, and is working on identity, privacy and surveillance research as well as related public education initiatives.
