Hey TC advisors!

Long time no chat, hope you're all well. Just wanted to let you know about an upcoming webinar that we co-organized this coming Tuesday, June 11th from 12:30-1:30pm with CIRA (the Canadian Internet Registration Authority).

City Limits: Is everyone in urban Canada getting the internet they need?

Conversations about Canada's digital divide tend to focus on the disparities in access between rural, remote and Indigenous communities, and what's perceived to be faster and cheaper internet services available in cities. This is a serious problem, but it's not the only issue keeping Canadians from being connected. Some people living in Canada's major cities are also still struggling with insufficient internet access. This can limit their access to work and educational opportunities, health and government services, and their ability to stay connected with friends, family and the wider community.

To fix this problem, some communities are taking matters into their own hands with innovative approaches and partnerships that advance digital equity. Join representatives from the Canadian Internet Registration Authority, National Capital Freenet and the City of Saskatoon as they discuss digital inequities facing many in urban Canada, and emerging solutions to overcome these barriers.

Featured speakers include:
** Andrew Martey-Asare, Business and Community Development Manager, National Capital FreeNet (NCF)
** Drew Bell, Director Information Technology, City of Saskatoon
** Jeff Buell, Internet Performance Test Manager, CIRA

While the discussion with include NCF's work to build our Community WiFi Network, it also speaks to the need for these kinds of project across Canada (shout out to North End Connect in Winnipeg!) and what we can learn from each other.

As the moderator I've heard some of the discussion and think it's gonna be a good one, so I would encourage you to register and attend if you're interested and available!

Thanks, talk soon,
Shelley
