Hello CAP sites

The Workshop on Friday, Feb 20 was attended by about 2/3 of the SICAN
sites. Some sites were represented by two or three people.

Matt Wenger provided a dynamic, challenging talk "Innovative
Approaches to Sustainability Funding." A discussion Moderated by
Garth Graham and Nina Linguanti on community building was timely.
Their topic was "Where Are We Going - Our CAP Future."

Bryan Oulton of the Neil Squire Foundation discussed the importance
of computer access for everyone. He is involved with the Web4All
program.

The afternoon continued with presentations on e-Health, and Smart
Communities. The CAP Future continued as a Roundtable.

Resources for Enhancing your CAP site were demonstrated in the lab by
Gareth Shearman, Ian White and Kevin Priebe.

As well, arrangements were assisted by two current University of
Victoria work term students Justin Sundholm and Mark Hulyd who filled
in with many tasks!

Industry Canada was represented by Chris Bywater and Michael Campsall
The Province of BC by John Webb who introduced Matt Wenger.

Facilities were provided by School District No 63 (Saanich). The
Greater Victoria Public Library provided a Media Projector for the
presentations. Victoria Free-Net Association provided some new
technology for "Show an Tell!"

Daphne Shaw and Mae Shearman co-ordinated lunch, coffee and snacks!

Workshop funding and initiative for the day's events were provided by
Industry Canada.

Finally thanks to those who came making this an informative, interesting time.

Stay tuned.
