Youth connecting to the world!

If you are between the ages of 19-30, have post-secondary training in
Information Communication Technology and are looking for an opportunity to
gain international overseas experience, you may be a match for a CUSO -
NetCorps internship. Positions are up to six months in length.

CUSO is a non-profit organization committed to global social justice,
solidarity and environmentally sensitive community economic development.

NIGERIA - NETCORPS - COMPUTER ANALYST  (8863) : August 15, 2004
The Young Men Christian Association (YMCA) based in Lafia, Nigeria is
looking for a Computer Analyst to assist in the training of youth from the
Nassarawa State in computer and Internet skills. Through the YMCA's skill
development program, the intern will help youth and less privileged in the
community to develop skills for income generating activities. Under the
direction of the Executive Secretary, the intern will develop training
material, manuals and deliver courses on basic computer literacy and
database design. Experience in website design and implementation would also
be a strong asset.

NIGERIA - NETCORPS - COMPUTER TRAINER (8794) : August 15, 2004
The Centre for Women, Youth and Community Action (NACWYCA) based in Lafia,
Nigeria is looking for a Computer Trainer to assist in strengthening the
capacity of staff and the service delivery section of NACWYCA. The intern
will be responsible for providing training to youth in computer maintenance
of networks and in minor computer repairs. An understanding of other
relevant areas such as database design and maintenance would be an asset.

To become a NetCorps intern, you must meet the following criteria.
Candidates must:
·	be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or a person who has been granted
refugee status in Canada *;
·	be between 19 and 30 years old at the start of the internship;
·	be a post-secondary graduate (includes college and technical schools); &
be out of school;
·	not be in receipt of Employment Insurance (EI) benefits;
·	not have previously participated in a Youth Employment Strategy (YES)
internship or program.
* Persons awaiting refugee status, as well as those who hold temporary
visitor visa, student visa or work visa are ineligible to participate in the
program.

As well, candidates must:
·	demonstrate appropriate interpersonal skills to live and work in another
culture;
·	meet the job requirement of the overseas organization with whom they are
engaged;
·	be interested in learning the language of their host country;
·	be prepared to fundraise $600 towards participation in the CUSO program
·	be prepared to complete a Canadian phase of the program prior to departure
for the field. This phase involves voluntary work in Canada in the field of
Information and Communications Technology.
·	be certified healthy to travel through a medical screening process;
