"These Stadts are the ones that came with their small fam to this goodly land
and prospered. Dad's sister Grietje in Rudyard lived when they first came here
Grand Rapids Michigan. When they saw the name of a hardware store with the
name of Evert Stadt, knowing that one of the brothers of her mother and Dad's
Stadt mother just became missing they thought these people may know something
about this uncle "Albert Stadt" so they went in and the reception was not very
warm. Altho they were members of the Reformed Church that did not break the
ice. Tried to write to them but had not much succes, then I tryd the Country
Office and received a list of all Stads living in that county until cousin
received a litter from me came in friendly hands and became interested with me
in finding them. Some were suspicious of a letter from Utah the state of
Mormons but this Lena Bosch stayed with me for a long time till she send me a
note with a paper clipping mentioning the death of one of her cousin in Iowa
they all have married Dutch companions it seems; and most of them not all
belong to the Reformed Church, which was our Church too before we became
members of the Church of Jesus Christ. This named Lena Bosch's husband was a
leader in the Reformed and did not approve of corresponding with Mormons but
she kept sending me now and then some information. Her husband's name was
Jacob van den Bosch.
