Adrian Buchanan has been taking photographs for the better part of two years now. He currently resides in Victoria, British Columbia, where he attends SJ Willis alternative education, the goal being to complete his high school eduction, and move on to a university transfer program.
He has background in film photography, linear video editing, glue and scissors, abandoned computer equipment and software, desktop publishing, cigarette smoking, duct tape, offending strangers, and keepin' it real.
Well, right now a lot of my work has been centered around finding interesting and overlooked details in mundane settings. Structures of lines, mixings of colours, text that lies out of place or has an ironic twist to it, that sort of thing.
It's sort of developed in that direction lately due to some thoughts on autism, I reckon.
Another thing I've been doing is experimenting with analog video electronics, trying to see what odd effects I can conjure up.
If you haven't notice by now, this page lacks a few minor asthetic qualities commonly found on the internet these days.
This mainly has to do with me using frontpage Express 2.0 as the main building tool, and a rusty limited memory of html.
On the other hand, a simple layout with easy to read text against a black background proves easier on the eyes, a point demonstrated by maddox, proprieter of "the best page in the universe".
Well, a good little chunk of time ago, I had it in my head that it would be a very good idea to try and record the most godawful album made in the last couple years. I ended up dropping it, and lost most of the materials when I switched over to a new computer, but Androgynous Rock Star survived, tucked away on a friends computer.
Feel free to lable it garbage and ignore it, or have fun with it, and crank it to piss off your neighbours!
One reson is, well, I don't know very many people that are willing to model. I'd love to develop some skills in potraiture, but opportunity presents itself as a problem.
Another is with my theme of trying to find obscure details, I find sometimes the appearance of leaving out traces of people gives an alien and disconnected vibe, which sort of reinforces the whole thoughts on autism thing.
Oh, I know. I know.
