SOMETHING YOU MAY BE WONDERING

"Why," you may be asking yourself after viewing the picture of me and my sweetie, "is a lesbian involved with a man?" Well, it's kind of strange and wonderful at the same time. I met John in the fall of 1997 and we became friends. Soon we were seeing each other two or three times a week. People started to refer to us as "The Cute Couple." "We're not a couple!" I would say. "I'm a LESBIAN!" But somewhere along the way I began to think of John as more than just a friend. I had been trying to discourage him from thinking of me that way - as more than a friend - because, after all, I was a lesbian. Thank goodness he didn't listen to me. :-) I went ahead and fell in love with him anyway, and he with me. As you can see from the picture we are happy. (And yes, my hair really is purple in that picture). So, what does this make me? Straight? Nope. Bisexual? Could be. Lesbian in a relationship with a man? Possibly. I've identified as a lesbian for four years. I've been in love with men and I've been in love with women. I fall for a person, not a gender. Isn't that the way it should be?
