KEEP THIS ATTITUDE IN YOU
Keep this attitude in you
That also was in Jesus
He
emptied himself
And came to be found
In the likeness of man
He
humbled himself
Even as a slave
Obedient unto death
Keep this
attitude in you
That also was in Christ.
from Philippians 2:5-8
BLESSED BE JAH!
Blessed be Jehovah
Who has given a resting place
To
those inclining their heart unto him
And walking in all of his ways
Never leave nor forsake us
Maintain our cause day by day
That all
may know of the True God
Jehovah, our Resting Place
from 1 Kings 8:56-61
DEDICATION SONG
Oh I love that Jehovah hears my voice
For He has
inclined His ear to me
All my days I will call upon His name
He is the
One showing mercy unto me.
What shall I give unto Jehovah
For
all His benefits to me?
I will take up the grand cup of salvation!
In the
presence of His people
In the courtyards of His house
Unto Jehovah I
will pay my vows.
from Psalm 116
WE DO NOT GIVE UP!
We do not give up!
Our inner man is being renewed day by
day
Therefore we do not give up!
Even if our outer man is wasting away
We have this treasure in earthen vessels
That the power beyond normal may
be God's
Having this ministry therefore we endure
We do not give
up!
from 2 Corinthians 4
GOING FORTH FROM
EGYPT
When Israel went forth from Egypt
Judah became His holy
place
When Israel went forth from Egypt
They were the dominion of JAH!
The mountains themselves skipped about like rams
The hills
like the young of the flock
The sea itself saw it and took to flight
And
Jordan began to turn back.
Jehovah is changing the rock
Into a pool of living water
Springs of water for Israel
When going forth from Egypt.
from Psalm 114
FREEDOM SONG
Seventy years is all that we have
Maybe eighty if we are
strong
What they bring us is trouble and sorrow
Soon life is over and we
are gone
Seventy years is all that we have
Maybe eighty if we are
strong
Use your life to tell of God's Kingdom
Give praise to JAH for the
gift of his Son.
CHORUS:
When the Son sets you free
You are free indeed
Grace and truth came through Jesus
When you
know the truth
The truth sets you free
Life eternal through
Jesus.
from Psalm 90:10 and John 8:36
THE HARVEST
Everywhere I go I see people in pain
Crying out for things
they cannot find
Everywhere I go I see those who live in shame
In their
lonely search for peace of mind.
The harvest is great - the workers are few
Lift up your
eyes now and see
The tears of the sower and the joy of the reaper
Mingled together soon will be.
CHORUS:
Send holy spirit now with power
to fill
Unite my heart, oh God to do your will
Gathering fruit
unto life everlasting
Jehovah here I am - send me.
from John 4:35
OUR HIGH PRIEST
Jesus can sympathize with our weaknesses
He was tempted as
we are
Now he is always living to plead for us
When we approach
God through Him.
Let us approach with freeness of speech
The throne of
undeserved kindness
That we may obtain mercy and grace
To help at just
the right time.
CHORUS:
We have an High Priest in the
heavens
Jesus, the Son of God
Let us take hold of the promise
And
speak in accordance with truth.
from Hebrews 4:14-16 and Hebrews
7:25
MELODIES UNTO ME
In the night I have remembered your name oh Jehovah
At
midnight I get up to give thanks unto you
I have been up early even in the
morning twilight
That I may cry out to you for help.
Turn to me and show me your favor oh Jehovah
According to
your custom toward those loving your name
Deal with your servant even in
your lovingkindness
Oh Jehovah I have chosen your ways.
CHORUS:
A lamp unto my foot and a light
unto my roadway
With my whole heart I have searched for you
Your
regulations have become melodies unto me
In the house of my pilgrimage.
from Psalm 119
MAKE MELODY TO
JAH!
Though I walk in the midst of distress
You will preserve
my life
With your right hand you will save me, JAH
From the enemy's
strife.
The day that I called unto you, you answered
And made me
bold with your strength
You will complete what is in my behalf
And I will
laud your name.
The kings of the earth will hear your words
And they will
sing of your ways
Because of your lovingkindness and truth
The name
of Jehovah is praised.
CHORUS:
I will make melody to Jehovah
For his glory is great
I will make melody to Jehovah
And sing to him
all of my days.
from Psalm 138
OPEN THE GATES
Jehovah has called you as one rejected
Hurt in spirit and
left all alone
Jehovah of armies is your Repurchaser
He will have mercy
upon you.
Clear up the way and make straight the highway
Raise up a
signal for all of the people
Call out and say to the daughter of Zion
Salvation is coming to you.
CHORUS:
Open the gates for the righteous
nation
Salvation appoint for walls and for ramparts
Open the gates for
the faithful in conduct
That those keeping truth may go in.
from Isaiah 26
THE PRAISE OF JEHOVAH
Jehovah is giving support unto all who are falling
Jehovah
is raising up all who are bowed down
Jah is near to all of those who call
upon Him in trueness
CHORUS:
The praise of Jehovah I will sing
For He is guarding those loving Him
The praise of Jehovah I will
sing
And bless His name forever.
I will exalt you O my God
All day long I will bless You
I will exalt you O my King
And bless your Holy name.
The praise of Jehovah I will sing
For He is guarding those
loving Him
The praise of Jehovah I will sing
And bless His name forever.
Jehovah is good to all and His greatness is unsearchable
Righteous in all His ways and loyal in all His works
Slow to anger and
merciful and great in lovingkindness
CHORUS:
The praise of Jehovah I will sing
For He is guarding those loving Him
The praise of Jehovah I will
sing
And bless His name forever.
I will exalt you O my God
All day long I will praise you
I will exalt you O my King
And bless your holy name.
The praise of Jehovah I will sing
For He is guarding those
loving Him
The praise of Jehovah I will sing
And bless his name
forever.
from Psalm 145
BLESSED BE
JEHOVAH
An handful of grain in the earth
Upon
the top of the mountains
The fruit thereof will shake like Lebanon
The
Mts will bring peace unto the people
And the little hills by righteousness
They of the city will flourish just like grass
Blessed be Jehovah our
God.
He will save the needy and poor
And those who have no
helper
Precious will their blood be in his sight
He will break in pieces
the oppressor
All his enemies will lick the dust
His Kingdom will be unto
the ends of the earth
Blessed be Jehovah our God.
They that dwell in the wilderness
Will bow down before him
He will have dominion from sea to sea
In his days the righteous will
flourish
They will have abundance of peace
He will come down like
rain upon the mown grass
Blessed be Jehovah our God.
from Psalm 72
SING TO JEHOVAH
Give to Jehovah all you families of the people
Give to
Jehovah glory and strength
Bow down to Jehovah in his holy courtyard
Say
among the nations that Jehovah is our King.
Jehovah is great and very much to be praised
Tell the good
news of salvation by him
Jehovah has come to judge the circle of the earth
He will judge the people with his faithfulness.
CHORUS:
Sing to Jehovah all you people of
the earth
sing to Jehovah and bless His name
Strength and beauty are in
His sanctuary
Give unto Jehovah all the glory of His name.
from Psalm 96
LET JAH BUILD THE HOUSE
Unless Jehovah himself builds the house
The workmen toil in
vain
Unless Jehovah himself guards the city
The watchmen waken in vain.
I lift my eyes to the mountains
Where is my help coming
from?
Jehovah himself is my helper
I will dwell in
security.
The one guarding you is Jehovah
The Maker of heaven and
earth
Jehovah himself guards your soul
And you dwell in security.
Let Jehovah himself build the house
He will not let your
foot stumble
Let Jehovah himself guard the city
You will dwell in
security.
CHORUS:
Rising up early and sitting down
late
Working so hard, eating bread with pain
Jehovah gives sleep to his
loved ones
And they dwell in security.
from Psalm 121 and Psalm 127
PRAISE JAH!
From the top of the mountains let the people cry aloud
Unto Jehovah! Give him all the glory!
All you people living in the
islands of the sea
Unto Jehovah give all of the praise!
From the ends of the earth all of you people sing a new
song
To Jehovah! Give him all the glory!
He's the one who turns the
darkness into light before us
To Jehovah give all of the praise!
CHORUS:
Let the wilderness and all it's
cities
Praise Jehovah! Oh praise Jehovah!
All of you once living in the
darkness
Cry out in joy! Sing praise to JAH!
from Isaiah
42
GIVE GLORY
Unto us, unto us belongs nothing
But to your name O
Jehovah give glory
Unto us, unto us belongs nothing
But to your name O
Jehovah give glory!
According to your trueness
And your lovingkindness
All
you delight in you do
Unto us, unto us belongs nothing
But to your name
Oh Jehovah give glory!
Unto us, unto us belongs nothing
But to your name O
Jehovah give glory
Unto us, unto us belongs nothing
But to your name O
Jehovah give glory!
You that fear Jehovah
O trust in Jehovah
For He is
your help and your shield
Unto us, unto us belongs nothing
But to your
name O Jehovah give glory!
Unto us, unto us belongs nothing
But to your name O
Jehovah give glory
Unto us, unto us belongs nothing
But to your name O
Jehovah give glory!
Jehovah himself, YES! He remembers us
And we ourselves
will bless JAH
Unto us, unto us belongs nothing
But to your name O
Jehovah give glory!
from Psalm 115
THE TABLE OF GOD
Jesus was lifted upon Calvary's tree
He was bruised and
wounded for you and for me
His life's blood was poured out a ransom for
all
Come and feast at the Table of God.
CHORUS:
There's a table prepared
For
all who are needy
Bread has been given and
Wine has been poured
Jesus
is calling
To the hungry and thirsty
Eat and drink at the
Feast of
the Lord.
We who believe in the Ransom sacrifice
Give honor to Jesus
for paying that price
Thanking Jehovah for the gift of our lives
As we
feast at the Table of God
We who are part of Christ's body today
Pour our lives out
to show others the Way
Go to the highways and byways and say,
Come and
feast at the Table of God.
I wrote many of these poems when I was a
teenager.
(A LONG time ago!) Others were added
when I was out
of school and in the workforce, and
still more when I
was a young mother. Some were
written later on when
my children were older and I had more
time for such
pursuits. These are all the 'free verse'
type of poetry. I
also write poetry that rhymns & I
have music for those.
GIFTS FOR
ME
My brothers, my sisters
I long for you
My heart cries out for you
My spirit leaps within at every
thought of you
and runs eagerly toward you
like little
children reaching with delight
For a long awaited gift
For me, Daddy? - Just for me?
What does the
card say, Daddy?
Read it to me...
Let me unwrap it myself!
Please, Daddy?
OH! Oh Daddy! - Thank you!
Thank
you, thank you, thank you!
It's just what I always wanted!
and gave gifts... (Eph
4:8)
LOVE IS...
What is love to my spirit?
Love is the
sunshine that gives life to flowers
The warm earth that holds a tall
tree's roots
The enduring strength of mountains
Love is
the song of a waterfall
The beauty of a bird in flight
Love is life to my spirit, for love is my world
My eyes have beheld a way, a hard path to follow
For
sorrow has often been found there
Yet a bright star shines upon this
way
And the light it gives freely to all is called LOVE
This poem was written when I was
about 15
WHAT IS LIFE?
I have asked myself: What is life?
Men
and women are born
They live for a time and then they
die.
I have walked upon this earth
Stood on it's
mountains
Wandered through valleys
Seen the beauty of
nature
And I have looked upon the handiwork of mankind
Cities built of steel and wood
Created in thought
And born in the toil of hands.
Of what value are the
comforts that money will buy
To a searching heart?
Is this
then, LIFE?
Birth and death, work and rest, laughter and tears
To build up and to tear down, sowing and reaping
Is this
LIFE, or only existence?
If it so be that God created us
Why then do
we live in worlds unto ourselves?
Is there a reason, or was it an
idle thought
That proclaimed: LET THERE BE LIGHT?
What has given me the knowing that
Without a
vision the people perish?
Whence cometh this knowledge?
Surely there is a purpose, a plan
Buried deep in the heart of mankind
Often forgotten, yet never lost.
Is this then the reason why I am ever searching?
For we are of but yesterday and know nothing
Because our
days upon earth are a shadow.
Thus it is written and thus it is.
But deep calleth unto the deep
There is a
spirit in man which is not of flesh
And the mind of God discerneth
all things.
We spend our years as a tale that is told
So
teach us to number our days
That we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
This poem was written when I was
about 18 years old
PICTURE FRAMES
The sun shines warm, the sky is blue
and
brightly colored flowers bloom
within the picture frames of yesterday
Today is a chill wind blowing
and thick fog
surrounding me
In the darkness of a winters night
My mind is running down the highway of here and there
cutting across corners, ignoring road signs
not waiting
for the green light
exploring the possibility of traveling
the wrong direction on a one-way street
I stand at the crossroads of yesterday and tomorrow
I wrote this at a'transition
time' in my life...
ILLUSIONS
Illusions, like beautiful soap bubbles
shining brightly in warm sunlit air
radiating a 100 brilliant colors
in my mind
Borne aloft on the breezes of hope and desire
they dance with graceful movements unto my heart
I am drawn by the beckoning promise of fulfillment
and reach with eager hands toward their beauty
But
illusions, like soap bubbles
burst and scatter into the distance
drifting beyond the reach of my longing heart.
Connecting is an illusion
An exquisitely
beautiful dream that has fled from my mind
leaving in it's place the
coldness of reality
While I dreamed, hope blossomed in my heart
and filled my life with song
Now I have awakened but it is
still nighttime in my heart
and dawn is far away
I will no longer dream of connecting
I will
not let my life be lost in endless pursuit
Of the fragments of
illusion that remain in my mind
I will survive this night. I will yet
live and not die!
I will put my energy into the things that bring
life
I will change and grow and adapt to reality
I will
become more than I am now
But I am done with illusions
And
I will not dream of connecting
I close my heart to the sweet, sweet dance of desire
I will not look upon it's beauty
I will not listen to its
song that promises dear delights
I will not remember the warmth
that caressed my being with bright glory
I am done with illusions and I will not dream of
connecting
DREAMS
A dream is a beautiful thing
A great shining
star,
Reached for and held but a moment
In eagerly
clasping hands.
A burning flame hidden deep within the heart
A searching for a city not made with hands.
A dream is a beautiful thing
To behold life and wonder at
the beauty of it
Is a priceless jewel, to be desired
Far
more than the riches of this earth.
A dream is a
beautiful thing
To be held close to the heart
A fragile
thing - not to be taken lightly
But to marvel at in awe.
A dream is a beautiful thing.
I wrote this poem when I was
14 or 15
MY PATH
I walk upon this earth but for awhile
A word
of kindness, a brief and fleeting smile
May serve to cheer some
lonely travelers heart
Each passing day I strive to do my part
To ease a little of some bitter strife
Lift heavy load,
and better someone's life
These are the things that I would do each
day
For only once is given me to walk this way.
This is the first poem
I wrote. I was 13 years old.
I sent it to a radio
program for people in a nursing
home. They read it on air
and invited me to the
'home' to read it there
too.
NOT EASY
Life is not always an easy way to walk
It's
path is steep and often hard to climb
It is a great wonder to my
spirit
That in sorrow, is joy fulfilled.
I have known pain too deep for tears
The searching of a spirit for
truth
A call within the heart to a realm
Not seen by
mortal man.
And I have known the sorrow of mankind
I
have taken to myself of it's hurt
It's restless searching, it's
unamed longings
I have held it close to my heart and made it mine.
Yet no one lives unto one's self alone
And the sorrow in
my spirit
Is not mine alone to bear.
I have given of my heart and found it
Returned ten-thousand times in LOVE.
Yes, I have known pain
But it has made the song I sing more joyous
And has given
me peace within
I would have it no other way
For the love
given me
Has made it worth it all.
I was in my late teens when
I wrote this poem
GOD IS LOVE
Life devoid of love is an endless mockery
It
cries with a loud voice, saying "I am happy"
And knows not what
happiness is
It runs blindly on, seeking peace
Yet
beholding peace, comprehends it not.
I have seen men and women - tired, bitter, angry
people
In pain, they have said in their heart, "There is no God"
And this is sorrow to my spirit for God is
LOVE.
Go to the temples of the gods of this world
Look upon their walls, their towering sphires
Hear the voice of
mankind seeking God
In ritual established by
men.
Men, who like unto themselves have
For centuries been burdened by LAW.
"Thou shalt not..."
Too
long have we known condemnation!
Too long has God's glory
Been held captive in the prison of
"Thou shalt not..."
Rather would I hear a voice saying
"Thou shalt..."
Thou shalt love
the LORD thy God
With all thy heart
And with all thy soul
And with all thy might
And thou shalt love thy neigbor as
thyself
For God is LOVE.
This poem was written
during my teen-age years.
MY WORLD
There are worlds - and there are Worlds
In
the heart of each person
Lies a burning flame, a shining star
The life that gives to every one
The substance of which
their world is made
This is a great mystery and hard to understand
For beauty is in the eye of the beholder
And that which is
LIFE to my spirit
May mean naught to another
I have looked upon wealth and have seen riches
Yet the beholding of it has brought no peace to me
I can
find no lasting satisfaction
In the toil of hands for things that
money will buy
But there are many who have made this their world
And who am I to say that they are wrong?
I have looked upon mountains
And have
wondered at the strength
which enabled them to endure
While men lived and died, nations rose and fell
I have seen trees
that were young
When the glory of Egypt was great
Tall and
strong when the man from Nazareth
Walked upon the shores of Galilee
Full grown when the mighty armies of Napoleon
Went forth
to conquer nations.
I have questioned: What then is life
That
the days of man are but threescore and ten?
Yet I am one with life
and I could not deny my spirit
So I answered: Life then, is TRUTH.
I sought
diligently for truth
And I ran after it with eager feet
I
waited in silence and looked within my heart
And there was truth
revealed to me
It shone forth as a bright star in a great void
I gave of my heart and the giving of it was joyous
Love
took my heart and returned it unto me
Fashioned in the likeness I had
sought
A world has been made - my world
Others may
choose a different way
But I can walk only upon the path truth has
made
I call my world LOVE.
I was still a teenager when I
wrote this poem
I haven't written any poetry
for quite a few years now.
Mostly I write songs now instead.

ODE TO A FRIEND
Wandering all through my life
Just looking
for a friend
Someone who would be there
When I'm smiling, when I'm
sad
Letting me just be myself
With no need to pretend
For joy in the
good times
And for comfort in the bad.
CHORUS:
You are the one who
is always there for me
Letting me know that I belong
Looking into my
heart and seeing the good
You always listen to my song
The friend I had
looked for, for so long.
