SCHEDULE A SOCIETIES ACT CAMPBELL RIVER FREENET SOCIETY CONSTITUTION 1. The Name of the Society is Campbell River FreeNet Society, hereinafter referred to as the "Society". 2. The Purposes of the Society are: (a) To develop, operate and own a free, publicly accessible community utility in Greater Campbell River area providing the broadest possible range of information and possibilities for the exchange, of experience, ideas and wisdom. (b) To encourage the development of a wide range of community electronic information resources. (c) To encourage the broadest possible participation of information providers in making their information available on the FreeNet. (d) To work toward the widest possible public access to the government and other information through FreeNet and other non-profit organizations such as libraries, community groups and service organizations. (e) To work with other Canadian FreeNets to further development of the Canadian freenet network. (f) To educate and encourage the public in the use of computer telecom- munications and information retrieval. (g) To research ways to improve and expand public access to and use of electronic information resources and facilities. 3. Upon winding-up or dissolution of the Society, after repayment of all outstanding monies owed by the Society, including the remuneration of liquidator, and after payment of employees of the Society or of any other debts of the Society, all assets shall be distributed to a charit- able organization (or organizations) in Canada, registered under the provisions of the Income Tax Act, which shall be designed by the members. Any such assets remaining which had originally been provided for specific purposes, shall, wherever possible be distributed to a charitable organization, registered under the provisions of the Income Tax Act, carrying on work of a similar nature to such specific purposes. 4. The Society shall be carried on without purpose of gain for its members and any profits or other accretions to the Society shall be used for promoting its purposes. No member of the board shall be paid any remun- eration for services rendered to the Society of the facility but may be paid his reasonable expenses in acting as a member. 5. Clauses 3 and 4 of this Constitution, including this clause, are unalterable.
