DRAFT TORONTO FREE-NET NON-COMMERCIAL USE POLICY The mandate of the Toronto Free-Net is to provide information to the community of Metro Toronto, and does not provide space or resources for commercial activity. Commercial activity includes (but is not limited to): * The direct solicitation of funds or credit for for-profit purposes. * Orders for goods and/or services. * Invoicing for goods and/or services received. * Advertising of specific goods and/or services for sale. * Obtrusive business information that must be read before non-commercial information can be accessed by the user. * Unsolicited mass mailings. EXCEPTIONS Personal (non-business) advertising of specific goods for sale may be carried out in the "buy and sell" area. Businesses (and individuals) may sponsor a phone line, and receive a (maximum) three line acknowledgment when the user logs onto the Free-Net. These (maximum) three lines may display the business name, phone number/address, and a brief phrase. Other exceptions to this policy may be made by the TFN Board on a case-by-case basis. The TFN Information Resources Committee will forward recommendations concerning material that it feels is of significant interest to the community of Metro Toronto but that may violate this policy to the TFN Board for decision.
