Assessment and treatment centre
provides day hospital and inpatient services for people over 65 years of age
who need more intensive diagnostic investigation and treatment than is
available in the community. Emphasis is on improving the physical, social, and
emotional well-being of each client referred, through social, educational, and
recreational programs, and rehabilitative therapy. May
include participation at the day hospital twice a week for up to 12 weeks.
Assistance is also given on an outreach basis for those confined to their
homes. Clients can be admitted to the 17-bed inpatient unit; average stay is
