National Capital Freenet launches a CIRA funded event:

Canadian Digital Access Day, a new initiative to amplify the national
conversation around Canada’s digital divide, launched with a successful
kickoff event. The initiative will bring together non-governmental
organizations, the tech sector, policy-makers, academics, and those most
affected. The group intends to connect those already tackling digital
access issues, identify what else can be done, and measure progress.

Digital Access
Day<https://cira.ca/digital-access-day-connecting-all-canadians>is
funded by the Community Investment Program. National Capital FreeNet is
organizing the initiative, along with partners Compucorps and the
Internet Society Canada Chapter.

The kick-off began the planning for the main day-long event, which will
take place in May 2018. The purpose of the kick-off was to gather
information and ideas from those working on digital access issues,
provide an opportunity for people to commit to further involvement in
the summit, and launch the initiative website<http://digitalaccessday.ca/>.

The event took place on October 24 at Metropolitain Brasserie in Ottawa.
Julie Lépine from the Community Relations team represented CIRA and
publically congratulated the organizers.
